Hatman has written over 100 children's stories and poems. Hatman has worked in the education sector for over 25 years and was a regular on the London Poetry scene. He has recently featured in the Telegraph newspaper and has spoken on BBC Radio Leicester on numerous occasions. Hatman works with libraries and schools to promote the importance of reading for pleasure. His performances are described as “Fun, Interactive and Engaging”. Hatman’s latest book “Moo Went The Cow” will be on sale at the event and you can also pre order a copy of his new book “Baa Went The Sheep '' by completing the slip at the bottom of this letter. If you wish for your child to be able to purchase a book he/she will need to bring the exact amount of money on the day or anytime in a sealed envelope with the pre order form which is on the back of this letter week beginning 11th April 2022. Often pupils are very inspired to read the author's book after such a visit, and this is a unique opportunity for them to have books signed and personally dedicated. Research shows that author events inspire children and help them out on their journey in developing a love for reading and enjoyment of writing. We hope that your child will benefit from this visit.

This summer there are some marvelous child friendly activities happening at Gorse Hill City Farm. These include storytelling, crafts, scavenger hunts, animal petting and other fun activities to keep young minds busy during this holiday period.
Gorse Hill Farm is a non profit charity that has over 100 animals with cows, goats, sheep, ducks and many more taking residence on the farm. It also has a cafe selling food and ice cream for the hot summer days.
As part of the summer programme, local author and poet #Hatman will be providing storytelling sessions as part of the launch of his new book "Moo went the Cow". His "Get in the Moo-d" for summer Funday will take place on Saturday 23rd July. It is aimed at children of all ages, but will appeal to preschool and SEN students.
Children will have the opportunity to learn sign language and take part in fun and interactive activities. This fun day will take place in the natural surroundings of the farm where there will be opportunities to take part in scavenger hunts, craft activities alongside petting and feeding animals.
Now the summer is finally here, why not get in the mood by helping support a local charity by taking part in feeding animals and enjoying the fun day activities they will be putting on.

Amazing activities in April at Leicester Libraries
This Easter there are some amazing activities taking place at Leicester Libraries. These include workshops, crafts and other fun activities to keep young minds busy during this holiday period.
Local author and poet #Hatman is also launching his brand new book "Moo went the Cow" at his spring themed workshop aimed at preschoolers. Children will have the opportunity to learn sign language and take part in fun and interactive activities. These workshops will be taking place on the Tuesday 19th April @knightonLibrary Wednesday 20th April @TheBriteCenter and Thursday 21st April @BeaumontLeysLibrary
Between 1-3pm.
This is just one of the workshop opportunities in the Easter holidays as. Angela from Beaumont Key Library explains "We have loads going at the library from our Easter treasure hunt to our craft afternoon which take place on a Wednesday for 5-11 year olds. This Thursday we also have our Toddler time in the morning followed by an author visit which we are really looking forward to."
Hatman, one of the workshop hosts, has an interesting story. He is a father of five and works in a Special Needs school as his day job. He was inspired to write during the lockdown period as he tells us "for me lockdown was a blessing and a curse at the same time. It was a blessing to spend so much time with my children, reading them lots of books and stories. It was also a curse, as unfortunately I had lost to my uncle and gran. This made me realise that we are only on this planet for a limited time. Having read so many children's books over this time I decided it was about time I wrote one for my kids. Working at a special needs school gave me the inspiration to write a sign and say series. These books include makaton signs that you can sign along with the story." Hatman will be performing his latest book 'Moo When the Cow" at the workshops in Leicester libraries this Easter.

This is #Hatman's debut children’s book “Moo Went The Cow”. “Moo went the cow takes children through a day in a cow’s life, whilst learning Makaton signs on every page.”
A poem about the long wait for the crowds to return to games, and why we miss the sound of the crowd when they cheer.
“The anticipation the bubbling of the noise, the exhilaration when things are finally poised .”

“The anticipation the bubbling of the noise, the exhilaration when things are finally poised .”
An upbeat poem to celebrate the day I’ve got my first job. This poem paints a picture about brighter days ahead as long as we keep on jabbing.
“One jab, two jab, three jab four,
keep on jabbing, more more more....”
